Home air conditioning was first invented in 1902 by Willis Carrier. Carrier’s invention revolutionized home comfort, and to this day Carrier systems are some of the best central air systems that money can buy.
It wouldn’t be until 1968 that the next revolution in air conditioning would occur. However, it wouldn’t be in America this time, but all the way across the Pacific Ocean in Japan.
American air conditioning manufacturers did everything they could to sell their early units to Japan. The problem was that Japanese homes were not like those in America. The walls were thinner, and the buildings closer together. That meant that traditional air conditioning duct systems weren’t going to work.
Seeing that American central air systems weren’t compatible with Japanese construction and housing, the engineers at Mitsubishi got to work. Mitsubishi had already been producing electric fans for over thirty years by the time they started on their first AC unit. There was no shortage of aerodynamic or home comfort experience among their staff.
That’s how in 1968 Mitsubishi released a wall-mounted split-system room air conditioner featuring a line flow fan. The new system removed ducts entirely! Its design let homeowners pick and choose rooms that would need temperature control home comfort options. This also lowered energy consumption costs, and noise pollution.
Once again, home-comfort had been changed forever.
As bulky, noisy and inefficient units, traditional window box and central air conditioning units do a great job of keeping us cool during a hot Pennsylvania summer, but they’re hardly ideal technologies.
Compact and quiet, a Mitsubishi AC system works by pumping refrigerant to a series of wall-mounted units located throughout the home.
These ductless units can be individually adjusted to set the ideal temperature in each room. With a Mitsubishi ductless air conditioning unit, home cooling is finally ready to enter the 21st century.
The idea behind a Mitsubishi ductless AC is simple, but the system’s sophisticated engineering provides a number of benefits traditional units can’t offer. Some of these include:
